FAQ
Buyers
- What am I buying? A licence to use the files — not the copyright.
- Which licence do I need? Personal for hobby; Commercial for client work; Extended if the drawing goes into something you sell.
- Can I re-download? Yes, from Purchases while the listing remains available.
- Refunds? See Refunds — at checkout you waive the 14-day cooling-off once download/access begins; CRA 2015 rights for faulty/misdescribed content remain. Duplicate or corrupt packs may still be refunded.
Sellers
- First listing? Your first project is held for review. After approval, further packs can go live with automated checks.
- How do I get paid? Via PayPal after seller onboarding; CADBAY takes a 25% platform fee (sellers keep 75%).
- Who owns the IP? Under UK practice, copyright in drawings usually stays with the architect/designer (or their practice). Clients typically get a project licence unless the appointment assigns copyright to them. On CADBAY you keep copyright in what you list and licence buyers through us — but only list work you own or are clearly free to licence. See Seller Terms.
- Can I upload client project drawings? Usually no, if your appointment only grants a licence to use the drawings for that project, or if the client owns the copyright. Do not sell client-commissioned packs as stock unless you clearly have the right to do so.
- What about personal data / client confidentiality? Do not upload names, addresses, personal data, or identifiers that point to living individuals or clients. You are responsible for ensuring listings contain no personal data you are not entitled to publish (UK GDPR / data protection). Prefer your own libraries, standard details, productised systems, or properly anonymised packs. CADBay may auto-scan preview images and PDF sheet text for obvious UK details and blur / black them out on public previews only — this helps but is not 100% removal. CAD/DWG files are not auto-redacted. Downloads from Purchases remain the seller’s original PDFs.
- What formats? Prefer DWG + DXF, PDF sheets, and relevant BIM/manufacturing formats (RVT, IFC, STEP, etc.).
